The 48th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 29th April 1856 over the Rowley Mile, was Fazzoletto (7/1), a bay colt by Orlando out of Canezou, owned by 14th Earl of Derby. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 1 minute 49 secs, with the same distance back to the third. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £1,950 (Equivalent to £192,100 in 2017)
